Jigokudani,
Jigokudani valley, Kyoto
April 20, 2015
This photo was taken on the way down from the peak of the Monkey Park, maybe a 20 minute hike from the entrance. You can tell how old this park is by the the broken cement, moss covered steps and old abandoned buildings/playgrounds reminiscent of a horror movie especially on a foggy, rainy day such as the one we went on.
So the cool thing about this park is the monkeys just chill in the hot springs and just do their own thing, maybe looking up to see what you’re up to once in a while. You can also pay 100 yen in the resting spot on top for peanuts or bananas to feed the monkeys, but only from the inside… where its SAFE… yeah i’m scared of these guys. They are quite calm though they don’t really have any interest in people unless they have food. Something I thought was a bit weird is there are zoologists? who just follow these guys around with a clipboard… for the entire day and take notes over their shoulders.
